We’re working with the people of Wellington to develop a transport system to improve how the city looks, feels, and functions. The programme partners, Wellington City Council, Greater Wellington Regional Council, and the NZ Transport Agency, want to support the city’s growth while making it safer and easier to get around.
Last year we asked you what you liked and disliked about transport in Wellington.
From your feedback we developed a set of principles to reflect what you told us and to guide our thinking. Now we’re back to share some ideas about how we can Get Wellington Moving.
Wellington’s transport is under pressure. It will get worse as the economy and population grow.
We have limited transport routes, with competition for space between people walking, cycling, travelling by public transport, moving freight and providing services.
We’ve come up with four scenarios for Wellington’s transport future, and we want to know what you think of them.
The scenarios build on each other. The changes in the previous scenarios are included in the next one.
